Dinner in the Street

A fundraiser for creative placemaking in Old Town, Homer Alaska.

Bunnell Street Arts Center would love to extend a sincere thank you to all who helped create Dinner in the Street; a creative placemaking event to reclaim public space and make it a “place” for community engagement. An hugely collaborative effort– artists, restaurants, businesses and the Homer community– united to celebrate Bunnell Street Art Center’s year of Creative Placemaking efforts in Old Town, Homer.

The event began with West-African style drumming to lead dinner guests into to Bunnell Street Arts Center. At Bunnell guests dined on appetizers at picnic tables centered in the center of the street. Meanwhile, pianist Tom McDurmott serenaded guests as they perused auction items on the gallery walls. At 5:15 the 200 person crowd selected their artful bowls and sauntered down West Bunnell Ave to the Elk’s Lodge. There, they were served fresh Kachemak Bay Seafood Bouillabaisse while listening to live music by Kari Oden and Kevin Duff. When their bowls were empty we moved the masses back to Bunnell to close the Silent Art Auction with sweet local rhubarb pie.

West Bunnell Ave. was closed from 2pm-9pm.
