October Artist in Residence: Sheila Wyne, Sponsored by Homer Fiber Arts Collective

Bunnell Street Arts Center is glad to announce sculptor and mixed media artist Sheila Wyne was selected to be this year’s artist in residence for the month of October.

The month of programming is sponsored by the Homer Fiber Arts Collective, a Homer-based fiber organization who has curated the Wearable Arts Runway Fashion show for over 20 years. Sponsoring the residency, the collective aims to expand local artist’s inspiration and participation in the runway show themselves. Wyne has an impressive track record of creating innovative, impactful and wearable work for the runway.

Artist Talk:

Wyne’s approach is to look around the current environment to find a material that has been overlooked as a wearable material. The media she uses are as wide-ranging as the scale, scope and emotional content of her pursuits. No material is off limits. Everything is available for the creative act.

Sheila is looking forward to collaborating with Homer artists to create one piece that will be submitted into the Wearable Arts Show. Call to register. 235 – 2662

Tentative Residency Workshop Schedule:

October 6, 5 – 7 pm Artist Talk, Meet and Greet

October 7, 12 – 4 Bring Materials and Collaborate

October 14 and 15, 12 – 4 Build Wearable Sculpture
