My sculptures bring together a very human touch of form and mark-making with raw, elemental materials. They are personal in their intuitive, specific cuts and they are timeless in their combination of humanity, material and landscape. There are worlds to be found in the details of surface, texture and form: experiences crafted from living objects.

Bailey Arend was born and raised in Anchorage, where he is now a post-baccalaureate ceramics student at UAA. After living abroad for a year, he earned a BA in Chemistry from Whitman College. In the years following graduation he has become increasingly dedicated to ceramics and he now exhibits work nationwide.
