Dasha Kelly and Kima Hamilton, AIS at Seward Middle School, January 2017
“This year’s residency in Seward proved a pivotal success; the series has evolved into a art-based community building initiative spanning sixth through twelfth grade. In preparing our curriculum, we first assessed which sessions had already been shared with which grades over the past two years. Our second objective was to define a progression of concepts and lessons from grade to grade. The objectives arced from creativity with the younger grades, layering social consciousness and collaboration with each grade level. The sixth graders, for instance, invented creatures and the seniors created four-person group pieces on their opinions about various social justice issues.” -Dasha Kelly Narrative Report
