Join us for the Herring Protectors: Film Screening and Panel Discussion on Saturday, March 18, 2-4 pm at the Anchorage Museum Auditorium.
Gather for a screening of two films: Yaa at wooné (Respect for all things) and Yee eedé tooshí áa (We sing to you). Following the screening of the two twenty-minute movies, there will be a panel discussion centered on the importance of herring. Panelists include Louise Brady, Harvey Kitka, Dr. Thomas Thornton and filmmaker Katelyn Stiles.
This program is a feature of Bunnell Street Art Center’s exhibition Protection: Adaptation and Resistance on view at the Anchorage Museum until April 9. The screening is supported by The CIRI Foundation. The touring exhibit Protection: Adaptation and Resistance is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, Alaska Humanities Forum, Alaska Community Foundation, The CIRI Foundation, Rasmuson Foundation, Atwood Foundation, the Anchorage Museum, the Pratt Museum and participating venues.
