Plate Painting in Anchorage, at The Nave

March 9 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

Bunnell Street Arts Center invites you to paint a commemorative art plate in support of Bunnell’s annual Plate Project fundraiser, where each art plate inspire membership donations in support of Bunnell’s mission. Join Bunnell staff for a plate painting workshop and open studio at The Nave on Saturday, March 9th from 11-4pm.

A limited number of bisqued plates will be available for participants ages 18 and up. All materials are provided. Completed plates are due back to Bunnell by April 1.

Every year dozens of Alaskan artists create unique art plates for Bunnell’s Plate Project. The bisqued plates are blank “canvases” for brilliant food-safe underglazes. Plate painters are artists, community members, and Bunnell supporters – anyone committed to crafting an excellent plate that will raise essential operating support for the mission and programs of Bunnell Street Arts Center. Plates are exhibited at the Annual Plate Project Opening in May, and competitively selected by new and renewing members annually for $125 – $1000 donations to Bunnell.

The Plate Project would not be possible without the time and talent of Homer potters who transform hundreds of pounds of clay into 100+ plates each year. An artist-led community effort since 1995, the Plate Project provides essential support for the mission and programs of Bunnell Street Arts Center. This year’s Plate Project will be the 30th Annual Plate Project and will be fired by the Project’s originator, ceramic artist Ahna Iredale.

Email if you’d like to reserve a plate, and with any questions.

Plate Painting: Saturday 11-4pm at The Nave, 3502 Spenard Rd, Anchorage.
