Plate Project Paint-in Workshop

March 1 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

free

Bunnell Street Arts Center’s 29th Annual Plate Project begins with a series of plate painting workshops with Homer artist extraordinaire, Ann-Margret Wimmerstedt. Learn from an expert! Workshops are Saturdays from 1-4 pm and Wednesdays 5-7 pm from February 18th – March 11th at Bunnell Street Arts Center.

Guidance and good company guaranteed in these free paint-ins at the gallery. The Plate Project is open to anyone committed to crafting an excellent plate that will raise essential operating support for the mission and programs of Bunnell Street Arts Center at the Annual Plate Project Opening in May.

Every year dozens of Alaskan artists create unique art plates for Bunnell’s Plate Project. The bisqued plates are blank “canvases” for brilliant food-safe underglazes. The finished painted plates are then competitively selected by new and renewing members.

This workshop is made possible with support from the Alaska Community Foundation: Healthy Communities Grant.

The Plate Project would not be possible without the time and talent of Homer potters who transform hundreds of pounds of clay into 100+ plates each year. Plate painters are artists, community members, and Bunnell supporters. An artist-led community effort since 1994, the Plate Project provides essential support for the mission and programs of Bunnell Street Arts Center.

Bunnell Street Arts Center’s mission is to spark artistic inquiry, innovation and equity to strengthen the physical, social and economic fabric of Alaska.

Plate Project Paint-in Workshops: February 18th – March 11th, Saturdays 1-4 pm and Wednesdays 5-7 pm @Bunnell, free.
