Artists make the world a better place…and so can you!
Thank you for supporting Bunnell Street Arts Center! 2014 was a big year for us. From our Old Town neighborhood in Homer to greater Alaska, we engaged hundreds of people like you in the revolutionary act of creative placemaking. Please help us continue this important work.
Creative Placemaking is an evolving field of practice that intentionally leverages the power of art, culture and creativity to serve a community’s interests, driving a broader agenda for change, growth and transformation by building the character and quality of our place.
Creative placemaking is at the heart of our programs. Artist in Residence, Public Art, Exhibitions and Artist in Schools feature artist-led community engagement opportunities that explore, shape and deepen our sense of place. Projects like Bishop’s Beach signage, Bouys & Barrels, Dinner in the Street, the Loon sculpture at Bishop’s Beach Park and the 10×10 Members Show are just a few examples of our work to engage hundreds of people in creating and exploring our unique sense of place in the past year. Community is our medium, from school kids to artists to city government.

I am writing today to ask you to make a tax-deductible gift to support the work of Bunnell Street Arts Center.
The City of Homer nominated Bunnell to the American Planning Association Awards Program for our leadership work in city planning and recognized our unique blend of projects and partnerships. We raised $150,000 for Old Town AIR with support from ArtPlace America and leveraged an equal amount in government, private and in-kind donations. With your support we can continue this work!
Now, more than ever, we are looking for ways to attract and sustain artists to share, show and grow Homer’s creative economy. Building on the success of the Old Town neighborhood revitalization project, we have expanded the role of artists in the greater community and engaged in more cross-sector partnerships like the Homer Arts and Culture Alliance, the Woodard Creek Coalition, the stewardship and protection of Bishop’s Beach, Homer’s MAPP (Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships) community health initiative, Safe Routes to School, and the Homer Parks, Arts, Recreation and Culture (PARC) Needs Assessment.

Please consider an end-of-year gift to help us continue this important work in 2015. Your end-of-year gift underwrites a terrific slate of programs for 2015, including a Community Portrait Project with Adam Ottavi, two national Artist Residencies, a statewide invitational show entitled Shaping Alaska, and many other exciting ventures. Your generous support creates a world where art and artists dynamically shape the landscape of Alaska.
Thank you on behalf of Bunnell Street Arts Center!
