BUNNELL STREET ARTS CENTER WELCOMES KAREN FRANK, ARTIST IN RESIDENCE, APRIL 2022
Media artist and award-winning playwright and screenwriter, Karen Frank from Minneapolis, Minnesota will be Artist in Residence at Bunnell April 2 – 17, 2022, sponsored by the McKnight Foundation.
Homer, Alaska, April 2 – 17th — Karen Frank’s screenplays have reached the finals, semi and quarter finals in many national screenplay competitions. She was the winner in the short screenplay category of the 2017 Shore International Screenplay Competition, and the 2009 and 2020 McKnight Fellowships. Her short screenplay, YOU ARE HERE, recently won Best Dramatic Short at the Indie Gathering International Film Festival, and has been included in the London Lift Off, Berlin Lift Off, Toronto Lift Off, Golden State and Crown Wood International film festivals.
While in residence, Frank will offer a three part short screen-writing workshop April 4 , 11 and 14. Participants should attend all three sessions.
Bunnell Street Arts Center’s Artist in Residence (AIR) features Alaska, national and international artists for residencies of varying lengths, from one week to one month. The program has evolved with support from McKnight Foundation, Rasmuson Foundation, US Artists, Homer Foundation, ArtPlace America and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Today, it is primarily supported by private donors, foundation grants, and application fees.
