Pizza party celebrates creative placemakers
Bunnell Board, staff and volunteers convened July 21 for a build-your-own pizza party in Bunnell’s backyard. Neil and Kyra Wagner provided the ingredients and their mobile, wood-fired oven. The pizza party was sponsored by Rika and John Mouw who purchased the event at a fundraiser for the Center for Alaska Coastal Studies. Wrapped in wind and a dash of sun, we celebrated Old Town AIR, Bunnell’s creative placemaking project funded by ArtPlace America. We cheered Old Town Neighborhood Coordinator Brianna Allen, who helped forge new partnerships between private landowners, artists, the City of Homer and neighborhood residents. We toasted Brianna’s achievements and those of volunteers for Old Town Dinner in the Street, June 1. Brianna’s position ended with the sunset of our ArtPlace grant. As a special surprise to all, Robert Lynch, President and CEO of Americans for the Arts and his wife, Dianne Brace, Senior Director of Institutional Giving at National Public Radio, joined the dinner.
