To Crave What the Light Does Crave

During my residency at the Bunnell Street Art Center in April, I will create a new series of photographic tableaux using a hand-built 16×20 inch view camera. The camera was fabricated in Fairbanks, specifically for this body of work and the Bunnell Street residency. I revel in the technical challenge of working with large cameras and photographic equipment. I am incited by the conceptual challenge of working in Homer and creating something uniquely representative of the place, landscape and people. In May, the plates created in April will be displayed in the Bunnell gallery in an exhibition titled To Crave What the Light Does Crave. This residency was made possible by a 2012 Rasmuson Foundation Individual Artist Project Awards. Generous support has also been provided by Mike Knoche, Donna & Michael Patrick, Christine & Michael Schiesl, the Bunnell Street Art Center and the Alaska State Council on the Arts.
