I love making things with clay: the firm push used to wedge; peeling off thick ribbons when trimming a foot; watching the absolute velvety pour of slip as it drains from a mold; letting out a quick puff of air when a smooth, perfect closed form is pierced; or the glow and crackle of firing with wood.
I want my work to be as poetic as the process of making it is for me: a ruffled lip suggesting excitement or a design falling apart and losing its pattern as it covers a curve. I try to create objects that are beautiful and inviting; that maybe add a little bit to life’s experience.
