Students must provide their own materials including fabric, trimming, bias tape, ric rac, thread and sewing machine. This class is sponsored by Bunnell Street Arts Center in Homer, Alaska and Alaska Community Foundation Coronavirus Nonprofit Relief Fund.
Bobby Itta creates traditional regalia with a modern twist. She likes to incorporate non-traditional colors and beadwork. Her patterns tend to be more modern then traditional. Bobby’s inspiration comes from her upbringing. All her life she was surrounded by whaling, hunting, and fishing. Which all inspires her work. She also creates to keep the traditional of skin sewing alive, and to pass it down to future
generations. She also does bead work, which is nontraditional because she loves to incorporate color in her pieces.
