Re-creation for Recreation – Movement, Mindfulness, Memories
Workshops are Tuesday, December 8th, 7-8:30 pm, free as a gift to all current members. Register by 12/7th
“Because of the deep impact on the world of racism, for me race embraces every limiting label placed upon humans – from disabled to gay. We are all infinitely expansive beings but race, ability, class, education, etc. trap us with unconscious limiting beliefs based in stories we tell ourselves. When you’re given the opportunity to tell your stories and examine them, you can realize true lasting freedom and joy.
Thus, the purpose of the R.A.C.E.S. Re-Creation Sessions is to allow participants to share their stories in a safe, relaxing, creative space.
Because so many people cringe at the mention of race or racism, the approach of R.A.C.E.S. is to recognize that all stories can be changed, can be re-created. And this process is meant to be liberating and fun, recreation.”
In these sessions, Skywalker Payne will lead participants in simple movements to release body and mind. After charging up our bodies, we will sit in silence to charge up our minds and spirits. After the silence, Skywalker will begin the story sharing, memories, specifically reflecting on this year.
