Sharlene Cline, AIS at Big Fireweed, February 2018
Sharlene Cline, mixed-media collage artist based in Anchor-Point, worked with Homer Big Fireweed Academy students (third through sixth grade) to document ocean currents through acrylic paintings. The week in residence combined both art and science, with students exploring what causes ocean currents and how climate change effects our seas, as well as art techniques such as adding texture and glazing with paints. The session culminated in an exhibit with the students’ families.
